Explanation
BACKGROUND: This ordinance authorizes the Director of the Department of Development to enter into a contract modification for fiscal manager and other services as a partner in the City of Columbus CAREER 500 grant program with Aspyr, in an amount of up to $137,489.79.
This contract was authorized by ordinance 2670-2024 in October of 2024. Aspyr is administering the Columbus CAREER 500 grant program, which aims to uplift 500 or more Columbus residents by supporting existing programs that provide training, wraparound support, and job placement services to underemployed individuals.
Seven organizations were selected to receive the initial grants. Based on performance, some organizations may be eligible for additional grants. These funds will support that additional funding towards the close of the program.
Amount of additional funds to be expended: $137,489.79

Reason other procurement processes are not used:
The contract with Aspyr represents a not-for-profit services contract, and their services on this project are ongoing. Aspyr holds and administers active subrecipient grants through the CAREER 500 program. It is not appropriate to disrupt their services and administration at this time.
How cost of modification was determined:
The cost of the modification was determined based on availability of funds within the City of Columbus to provide additional support for organizations who meet or exceed expectations within the CAREER 500 program, allowing these organizations to them to recruit, serve, and graduate even more clients.
Fiscal Impact: Funds are available within the Job Growth subfund (100015).
