Explanation

Background:
One bid was received by the Recreation and Parks Department on May 16, 2006, for the Thompson and Far East Recreation Center Roofing Improvements, as follows:

Phinney Industrial Roofing Majority $446,000

Project includes all labor and material for roofing improvements to Thompson and Far East Recreation Centers, and to provide a 15 year warranty.

The Contract Compliance Number for Phinney Industrial Roofing is #34-1478040.

A contingency amount of $40,000.00 is being included in this project.

Emergency legislation is necessary to ensure project completion during summer season.

Fiscal Impact:
$486,444.00 is required and budgeted in the Voted 1999/2004 Parks and Recreation Bond Fund to meet the financial obligation of this contract.

Body

WHEREAS, bids were received by the Recreation and Parks Department on May 16, 2006, and the contract for the Thompson and Far East Recreation Center Roofing Improvements will be awarded on the basis of the lowest and best responsive and responsible bidder; and

WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Recreation and Parks Department in that it is immediately necessary to enter into contract to enable completion of project prior to the summer season; now, therefore

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:

Section 1. That the Director of Recreation and Parks be and he is hereby authorized and directed to enter into contract with Phinney Industrial Roofing for the Thompson and Far East Recreation Center Roofing Improvements, in accordance with plans and specificat...
