Explanation
BACKGROUND: The Columbus Health Department has been awarded a grant from The Ohio State University. This ordinance is needed to accept and appropriate $2,500.00 in grant money to fund the Faith Works outreach services program for the period of October 1, 2005 through September 30, 2006.
The Columbus Health Department will partner to facilitate contact with churches in the Faith Works Program, implement additional church recruitment plans, and collaborate in survey design and revision. Monies are provided to support these activities and the Faith Works program members' participation in Faith Works meetings and other church recruitment meetings for the Columbus Congregations for Healthy Youth project.
This ordinance is submitted as an emergency so as to allow the financial transaction to be posted in the City's accounting system as soon as possible given the grant start date of October 31, 2005. Up to date financial posting promotes accurate accounting and financial management.
FISCAL IMPACT: The program is funded by The Ohio State University and does not generate revenue.

To authorize and direct the Board of Health to accept a grant from The Ohio State University in the amount of $2,500.00; to authorize the appropriation of $2,500.00 from the unappropriated balance of the Health Department Grants Fund. , and to declare an emergency. ($2,500.00)
