Explanation

This ordinance amends Section 2321.54 of Columbus City Codes to reduce manual transactions within the City Clerk’s office associated with legislative agent registrations. It also updates the registration fee of $45 to further include an administrative fee. Emergency action is requested in order to align code change effectiveness with the establishment of electronic, online payment processing in early January.

 

Title

To amend Section 2321.54 of the Columbus City Codes to reduce manual transactions within the City Clerk’s office associated with legislative agent registrations; and to declare an emergency.

 

Body

WHEREAS, this ordinance amends Section 2321.54 of the Columbus City Codes to reduce manual transactions within the City Clerk’s office associated with legislative agent registrations; and

 

WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily business of the city in that it is immediately necessary to enact this code change in order to align with the establishment of electronic, online payment processing in early January NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:

 

SECTION 1. That Section 2321.54 of the Columbus City Codes is hereby amended per the attachment to this ordinance.

 

SECTION 2. That existing Section 2321.54 is hereby repealed.

 

SECTION 3. That, for the reasons stated in the Preamble hereto, which is hereby made a part hereof, this Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after passage and approval by the Mayor or ten days after passage if the Mayor neither approves nor vetoes the same.
