Explanation

Background: On January 22, 2001, Council approved ordinance 0112-01 authorizing a six-year contract with Maximus, Inc. for the purpose of providing software support for CourtView 2000, the Municipal Court case management system. Passage of ordinance 0539-2006 on April 3, 2006 and ordinance 1388-2006 on July 21, 2006 provided for eight months of the sixth year of a six-year contract with Maximus, Inc.

This legislation is to authorize and direct the Director of Finance and Management on behalf of the Franklin County Municipal Court Clerk to enter into a contract with Maximus, Inc. for the last four months of the sixth year of a six year contract from November 30, 2006 through March 31, 2007 to provide funding for software support services for the Clerk's CourtView 2000 case management system. The additional four months is needed to complete the negotiations for a new software support contract with Maximus, Inc. in conjunction with the City Attorney's Office.

This company is not debarred according to the Excluded Party Listing System of the Federal Government or prohibited from being awarded a contract according to the Auditor of State Unresolved Findings for Recovery Certified Search.

Fiscal Impact: Funds for this budgeted expenditure are available within the Municipal Court Clerk 2006 computer fund appropriations.

Emergency: Emergency legislation is requested to maintain ongoing and uninterrupted software support for the CourtView 2000, the Municipal Court case management system.
