Explanation
This is a ceremonial resolution of expression to provide recognition for public and private purchasers and supply managers. These persons participate in a significant amount of business and commerce conducted in Central Ohio. Their work impacts business, industry and government in their ability to deliver goods and services in our economy, to our citizens.

Title

To recognize and celebrate Purchasing Month during March, by commending public and private purchasing and supply managers for their commitment to excellence in their profession.

Body

WHEREAS, the purchasing and supply management professionals have a significant influence on the economic conditions of the City of Columbus, with an aggregate purchasing power of billions of dollars; and

WHEREAS, hundreds of local public and private purchasing and supply managers improve our regional flow of commerce through education, networking and sharing best practices via local organizations; and

WHEREAS, The Central Ohio Organization of Public Purchasers, local Chapter of the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP) and the Columbus National Association of Purchasing Managers, local Chapter of the Institute of Supply Management (ISM) conduct activities and special events to celebrate "March is Purchasing Month" to further educate and inform people of the significant role of the purchasing and supply management profession within business, industry and government; and

WHEREAS, Our City of Columbus, Finance Department, Purchasing Office plays a significant role as a key leader in developing and implementing a purchasing system of quality and integrity that will maximize the value of public funds and provide fair and equitable treatment to all persons involved in public purchasing; and
