Explanation

BACKGROUND: This ordinance authorizes the Board of Health to modify an existing contract with Community Refugee and Immigration Services, Inc. (CRIS); entered into on November 1, 2022 for the period ending October 31, 2023 which contract did not require legislative action based upon the amount; to extend the contract term by four months, for a new end date of February 29, 2024.

Columbus Public Health has a need for interpretation services that provides spoken language interpretation for Dari, Pashto, and Urdu languages, which are not being fulfilled by other contracted interpretation providers. Interpretation services are needed to serve our clients health and social services related issues within our various clinics.

FISCAL IMPACT: The remaining balance on the contract is budgeted in the CDC Health Disparities Grant within the Health Departments Grants Fund, No. 2251, and no additional funding or appropriation is needed. ($0)

WHEREAS, The Board of Health has a need to modify an existing interpretation contract with Community Refugee & Immigration Services, for interpretation services, for a new contract term of November 1, 2022 to February 29, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Community Refugee and Immigration Services, Inc. has the expertise required to carry out those services; and NOW THEREFORE

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:

SECTION 1. That the Board of Health is hereby authorized to modify an existing contract with Community Refugee and Immigration Services, Inc., for interpretation services, for a new contract term of November 1, 2022 to February 29, 2024.

SECTION 2. That this contract modification is in compliance with Chapter 329 of the Columbus City Code.
