To thank Michael Cole for twelve years of distinguished and visionary service to the Columbus City Schools Board of Education and to commend his steadfast leadership, advocacy, and dedication to student success and public education.

 

Body

WHEREAS, Michael Cole was elected to the Columbus City Schools Board of Education in November 2013 and began his service in January 2014, embarking on what would become a twelve-year tenure marked by steadfast leadership, public commitment, and deep investment in the success of Columbus students and families; and

 

WHEREAS, throughout his distinguished service, Mr. Cole has been a consistent advocate for equity, accountability, transparency, and educational excellence, ensuring that district decision-making remains centered on student achievement and community well-being; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Cole has served in key leadership roles, including President of the Board of Education, where he guided the district through organizational transitions, fiscal challenges, and strategic initiatives with professionalism, collaboration, and a commitment to strong governance; and

 

WHEREAS, he has strengthened partnerships among families, educators, civic leaders, and community organizations, fostering open dialogue and building trust across the district while championing policies that support student learning and operational effectiveness; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Columbus recognizes Mr. Cole’s meaningful contributions to public education and his lasting impact on students, families, and the broader community; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:

That this Council does hereby thank Michael Cole for his leadership, service, and many contributions to the Columbus City Schools community and wishes him continued success in all future endeavors.
