Explanation
1. BACKGROUND:
A. Need: This legislation authorizes the Director of Public Utilities to enter into a professional engineering services contract with Brown and Caldwell, in connection with the Large Diameter Sewer Rehabilitation 2007 - Olentangy-Main Trunk Sewer, in compliance with CMOM requirements of the OEPA consent order. (See Attached Map)
This project includes preparation of a design report and sewer assessment work for the Olentangy Main Trunk Sewer. Future phasing of the Contract shall include design plans and technical services during construction. Detailed design plans and technical services are not part of this Contract at this present time and will need to be added after completion and review of the Design Report by the City to determine the extent of work necessary. A future contract modification is planned for these services. A Design Report with recommendations will be completed within 9 months of Notice-to-Proceed (NTP). Additional time for Construction plans will not be known until completion of the assessment work.

2. FISCAL IMPACT:
This ordinance authorizes the transfer and appropriation of funds from within the Voted Sanitary Sewer Bond Fund, and also allows for an amendment to the 2007 Capital Improvements Budget to establish sufficient funds and budget authority to cover the expenditure upon passage of the ordinance. Monies for this engineering agreement are provided from prior cancellations.
