Explanation

BACKGROUND:

The Ohio Department of Aging awarded a state grant, in connection with the Alzheimer's Respite Program, to the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging of the Recreation and Parks Department. This legislation will authorize the Director of Recreation and Parks to enter into twelve (12) contracts for the continued operation of these programs for the provision of adult day care, institutional care, homemaker, personal care, transportation, support group, visiting, and education services in Central Ohio for the period July 1, 2025, through December 31, 2025.

The service providers were selected from proposals submitted to the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging in May 2023, and these contracts represent the third year of a four-year proposal period. Approximately 2,300 individuals are expected to be served.

EMERGENCY DESIGNATION:
Emergency action is requested for the continuation of services to older adults beyond July 1, 2025.

FISCAL IMPACT:
$250,000.00 is required from the Recreation and Parks Grant Fund to enter into said contracts.

This Ordinance is contingent on the passage of Ordinance 1379-2025.
