Title: To authorize the Public Utilities Director to modify and extend an existing contract for the Land Application of Sewage Sludge with Burch Hydro, Inc., for the Division of Sewerage and Drainage.
Explanation

The purpose of this legislation is to authorize the modification Land Application and Disposal of Sewage Sludge Services for the Division of Sewerage and Drainage.

This contract provides for the disposal of sewage sludge on agricultural land and removal and disposal of ash for the Jackson Pike and Southerly Wastewater Treatment Plants. The Division of Sewerage and Drainage is currently in the process to determine the necessity of the service for future use. However, current operation needs make it necessary that this service be extended beyond its current expiration date.

This modification is to extend the current contract eleven (11) months to allow enough time for the Division of Sewerage and Drainage to research the necessity of this service in the future and to allow time for a re-bid, if needed.

The supplier is Burch Hydro, Inc., Contract Compliance No. 310978934

This modification will enable operations to be maintained at current capacity.

1.Since the sewage sludge of disposal services have been satisfactory and since the terms and conditions remain the same for the duration of the contract, this modification is in the best interests of the City of Columbus.

2.Pricing of services is based upon the original unit pricing of the contract.

3.The additional services required were foreseen initially and is needed to allow sufficient time to research the necessity of this service in the future.

FISCAL IMPACT: No additional funding is required for this modification.
