To thank Christina Vera for her impactful service to the Columbus City Schools Board of Education and to commend her tireless advocacy for equitable access, community empowerment, and family engagement.

 

Body

WHEREAS, Christina Vera was elected to the Columbus City Schools Board of Education in November 2021 and began her service in January 2022, bringing to the Board extensive experience in nonprofit leadership, social entrepreneurship, and community-based advocacy; and

 

WHEREAS, during her four years of service, Ms. Vera has demonstrated a deep commitment to strengthening partnerships between the district and families, ensuring that community voices remain central to district priorities and decision-making; and

 

WHEREAS, Ms. Vera served in prominent leadership roles, including Vice President and subsequently President of the Board of Education, where she provided thoughtful guidance during a period of organizational transition, resource planning, and strategic community engagement; and

 

WHEREAS, she chaired the Community Engagement & Advocacy Committee, championing initiatives that expanded outreach, increased transparency, and created meaningful opportunities for families, students, and community partners to participate in shaping the future of Columbus City Schools; and

 

WHEREAS, her advocacy for equitable access, community empowerment, and student-centered policy has made a lasting impact on the district and the families it serves; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:

That this Council does hereby thank Christina Vera for her leadership, service, and many contributions to the Columbus City Schools community and wishes her continued success in all future endeavors.
