Explanation
BACKGROUND: This legislation authorizes the Director of the Department of Development to enter into contracts with various social service agencies throughout Central Ohio. The total amount of these contracts is $507,181.00.
This ordinance represents programs to be funded following the Department of Development's competitive procurement process. The legislation targets those social service agencies that will provide help to families and households through access to emergency assistance, material assistance, counseling and treatment services. In addition, the city supports programs and activities so that the greater population is assured access to information, technical and other community assistance. These programs include childcare and housing referral, literacy education, community mediation, and planning activities. This funding will allow the process to continue.
This ordinance is an emergency due to these agencies accruing program expenses associated with operations.
FISCAL IMPACT: In 2005, a total of $507,181.00 has been allocated to fund social service programs through the Emergency Human Service Fund.
