To commend and thank Michael A. Pickard for his outstanding service to the City of Columbus.

 

Body

WHEREAS, 32 years ago, Michael Pickard became an employee of the City of Columbus; and

 

WHEREAS, Michael began his City employment on September 22, 1991, for the Department of Public Service, in the Division of Refuse Collection as a District Assistant Manager; and

 

WHEREAS, on January 25th, 1998, Michael was promoted to the District Manager position; and

 

WHEREAS, on February 16th, 2003, Michael took the position as the Keep Columbus Beautiful Manager; and

 

WHEREAS, on September 25th, 2005, Michael returned to the District Manager position; and

 

WHEREAS, on December 25th, 2011, Michael was promoted to the Division of Refuse Collection Operations Coordinator position. Michael has held this position overseeing the daily operations of the three refuse stations that provide weekly collection services to over 350,000 households; and

 

WHEREAS, Michael A. Pickard has been recognized for his instrumental role in implementing mechanized collection of residential waste in 1996 and in 2006, Keep Columbus Beautiful, under the direction of Michael, was honored as the top government-run program in the nation for beautification and community improvement by Keep Columbus Beautiful; and

 

WHEREAS, on behalf of Columbus City Council and the residents of Columbus, we commend Michael A. Pickard, who is retiring from the City on April 30th, 2023, for his years of dedication and commitment to providing refuse and recycling services to the City of Columbus. He has served as a role model for his co-workers and family and will continue to do so into retirement; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council does hereby recognize the long career and outstanding service of Michael A. Pickard and urge all members of our community to join in recognition of this significant occasion.
