To commend Mark Condon and the Encounter Worship team for their efforts to unite young people from different cultures, backgrounds and denominations in worship and to share the experience with others throughout the United States and the world through a unique, contemporary praise and worship program.
Body
WHEREAS, Encounter Worship was created by Columbus based International Integrity Music Recording Artist, Mark Condon in March of 2007, and in just three short months a stellar team of musicians and worship leaders from diverse church affiliations, cultures and backgrounds from the greater Columbus area were assembled with over 500 in attendance for an evening of powerful worship on Friday, June 15, 2007; and,
WHEREAS, Encounter Worship will also use this forum to develop young artists by giving them pre-show performance opportunities to showcase their talents, skills and abilities as they develop their own ministries ; and,
WHEREAS, it is Encounter Worship's mission to share this unique, Columbus based ministry with 165 countries, 31 million American homes, 75 million households in Africa, and with more than 1 million of our American armed forces stationed around the world through television and the internet; and,
WHEREAS, the Encounter Worship team will partner with local churches and business leaders to continue these free concerts and fulfill their vision to have them broadcast on television for the purpose of encouraging others into the presence of the Lord through praise and worship, now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That this Council does hereby commend Mark Condon and the Encounter Worship team for their efforts to unite young people from different cultures, backgrounds and denominations in worship and to share the experience with others throughout the United States and the world through a unique, contemporary praise and worship program.
