Explanation
BACKGROUND: This ordinance authorizes the Finance and Management Director to enter into contract for the Office of Construction Management with Fox Mechanical, in the amount of $228,000.00 for the renovation of North Market's Central Hot Water System at 59 Spruce Street. The contractor will demolish, replace interior finishes, and perform plumbing and electrical work. This contract is needed to bring the hot water system up to code. The contractor will have one hundred and twenty (120) calendar days upon notification of the award of the contract to complete the work.
Formal proposals were solicited on February 25, 2008. Three firms submitted proposals on March 10, 2008, as follows: (0 MBE, 0 FBE).
Fox Mechanical $228,000.00
Kirk Williams Co $243,000.00
Farber Corp $279,700.00
It is the recommendation of the Finance and Management Department, Office of Construction Management, to award this contract to the most responsive and responsible bidder, Fox Mechanical.
Emergency action is requested so the contractor will be able to complete this project in a timely manner, thereby allowing for hot water to be available in the building.
Fox Mechanical Contract Compliance Number 31-1270804, expiration date 06/29/2009.
Fiscal Impact: The total budget for this project within the Construction Management Capital Improvement Fund is $243,277.90. The total cost of this contract is $228,000.00.
