Explanation
This ordinance amends the current authorized strength, as set forth in ordinance 0301-2008, by amending the full-time general, other and grant, sanctioned authorized strengths of the Development and Public Safety Departments as follows:
Development Department
· Economic Development - Increases "other fund sanctioned" strength by 3 and "general fund sanctioned" by 2
o 2 in the Housing/Business Tax Incentives Fund in "other fund sanctioned" to accommodate these personnel
o 1 in the Neighborhood Economic Development Fund in "other fund sanctioned" to accommodate this position
o 2 increase due to merger of the downtown development office into the Economic Development Division in "general fund sanctioned"
· Development Administration - Decreases "general fund sanctioned" by 2
o 2 decrease due to merger of the downtown development office into the Economic Development Division in "general fund sanctioned"
· Housing - Increases "grant sanctioned" strength by 12 to accommodate grant funded personnel in this division
o 8 in the Home grant fund
o 4 in the LEADS grant fund
· Planning - Increases "general fund sanctioned" strength by 1
o This reflects the transfer of one full time employee from the CDBG fund to the general fund. The position was eliminated from the CDBG Fund because of reduced funding levels.
Public Safety Department
· Public Safety Administration - Increases "general fund sanctioned" strength by 1
o An increase of 1 in the Public Safety Director's Office "general fund sanctioned" strength is needed to accommodate a temporary overlap in personnel, reflecting planned changes in this division.
