Title: To authorize the Director of the Department of Development to modify an Emergency Human Services Capital Fund contract with the Central Community House by extending the length of the contract; and to declare an emergency.
Explanation

BACKGROUND: This legislation authorizes the Director of the Department of Development to modify contract DL 003862 with the Central Community House for the construction of their new facility under the Emergency Human Services Capital fund. The modification will extend the length of the contract 12 months. The new time of agreement will be from September 30, 2002 to September 29, 2004. The modification will allow the Central Community House to break ground by the end of 2003 and complete construction by the end of 2004, weather permitting.

The new facility will be located at 1150 E. Main Street. The new facility will make it possible to house the main agency and child care center under one roof and fulfill the urgent need for more infant and toddler care by adding over 30 slots for this age group.

This legislation is presented as an emergency to avoid interrupting the construction schedule.


FISCAL IMPACT: No additional funds are required for this modification.

Whereas, the Director of the Department of Development desires to modify Contract DL 003862 with the Central Community House by extending the contract for 12 months to September 29, 2004; and

Whereas, the Central Community House will construct a new facility, to be located at 1150 E. Main Street, under this contract from the Emergency Human Services Capital fund; and

Whereas, this modification will allow for the completion of construction by the end of 2004, weather permitting; and
