To enthusiastically endorse Issue 75 and continue Columbus City Council's support for Columbus City Schools.

WHEREAS, The Columbus City Schools have brought new enthusiasm and accountability to our city by improving its ranking from Academic Emergency to Continuous Improvement; and
 
WHEREAS, The graduation and attendance rates at Columbus Schools are improving dramatically; and
 
WHEREAS, Fiscal responsibility of the school system has been a hallmark of the current board, reducing growth by $19 million over the next four years; and
 
WHEREAS, A vote for Issue 75 will increase the number of science, technology, engineering and math courses, and provide students with an extra hour of classroom time-every day of the week, and replace or renovate at least 10 academically obsolete school buildings; and
 
WHEREAS, A vote for Issue 75 will equip new schools with modern science labs and internet access, improve security for students, teachers, and neighbors to help make our communities safer, as well as buy new buses, books, and computers for students; now, therefore;
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
 
That we do hereby endorse Issue 75 and support the Columbus City Schools in its effort to maintain and improve the educational standards and opportunities that it delivers to its students.
 
Be it further resolved, that this Council does hereby encourage the community to support Issue 75 that will go before voters in the November general election.
