Title
To celebrate 19 years of dedicated service by Dick Bangs to the citizens of Franklinton on Columbus' near west side
Body
WHEREAS, Dick Bangs was Executive Director of the Franklinton Board of Trade for 19 years; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Bangs worked with the City of Columbus and the Franklinton Area Commission to get the West Broad Street NCR new curbs, overhead wires buried and pedestrian level street lights; and,
WHEREAS, in 1992, Mr. Bangs started the Franklinton Board of Trade Youth Employment Program which is a small Saturday morning teen job litter and beautification program; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Bangs increased the Franklinton Board of Trade membership from approximately 12 members to 125 members; and,
WHEREAS, he worked with the Franklinton Board of Trade Auction Committee to raise funds for projects including flower boxes on West Broad Street in Franklinton ; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Bangs worked with businesses to start the Franklinton Christmas lights program lighting up businesses in on the near west side; and,
WHEREAS, He worked tirelessly with the McKinley Avenue businesses to start the McKinley Avenue Employers Association to get improvements for McKinley Avenue sewers; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Bangs was active in helping COSI move to the west bank of the Scioto.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That this Council does hereby recognize and congratulate Dick Bangs for his 19 years of commitment and tireless dedication to the Franklinton area and to the City of Columbus.
