To honor and recognize Arthur Calloway, the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists' Community Service Award recipient for the 2004 Labor's Salute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

WHEREAS, For over three decades, Art has dedicated his life to being an activist and leader as a member of the Communications Workers of America and in the broader community; and
 
WHEREAS, Art has answered the call to servant leadership by becoming an active member in the CWA Minority Caucus, NAACP, A. Philip Randolph Institute and the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists.  Art has also been recognized for his work with youth organizations, the CWA/SBC United WAY campaign, Red Cross Blood Drives and the CWA/SBC United Negro College fund committee; and
 
WHEREAS, Art has honored the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by working in the same spirit to help those who are less fortunate and by standing on the frontlines to aid in the fight against discrimination, prejudice and intolerance in all forms; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
 
That this Council does hereby recognize and congratulate Arthur Calloway, the 2004 CBTU Community Service Award recipient, on this 10th day of January 2004.
