Explanation
A. Need: This ordinance authorizes the Director of Public Safety, on behalf of the Division of Support Services to enter into a contract with B & B WRECKING & EXCAVATING, INC. for demolition and removal of three (3) Communication Towers located at:
1850 East 25th Avenue
3309 Karl Rd
2929 Riverside Drive
These towers were constructed in the 1950's and have been evaluated to be unsafe to use for daily operations and must be removed.
B. Bid Information: The Purchasing Office advertised and solicited competitive bids in accordance with the Columbus City Code, Section 329.06(a), bid #SA002561. Four bids were received:
1. B & B WRECKING AND EXCAVATING, INC. $ 14,025.00, Compliant
2. MOONBEAM, INC. $ 21,100.00, Compliant
3. PREFERRED TANK AND TOWER INC. $ 45,000.00, Not Compliant
4. O'ROURKE WRECKING COMPANY $272,000.00, Compliant
B & B WRECKING AND EXCAVATING, INC. was the lowest and best bid.
C. Contract Compliance: Contract Compliance #340877664, expires April 9, 2009.
FISCAL IMPACT: Sufficient funding is available in the Safety Voted Bond Fund for this project.

WHEREAS, the responsibility of the Department of Public Safety, Divisions of Police and Fire Communications system is and will continue to be that of the Division of Support Services; and,
WHEREAS, the Division of Support Services has evaluated and deemed it necessary for the demolition and removal of three communication towers that are no longer used/needed; and,
WHEREAS, the Purchasing Office advertised and solicited competitive bids; and,
