Explanation

Background:
This ordinance will authorize the Director of Recreation and Parks to enter into a contract with M-E Companies for professional services in conjunction with improvements to Whetstone Recreation Center High St. Drop-off area. Services will include preparation of preliminary cost estimate, Drawer E Plans and revise site plans.

M-E Companies was selected for this project from proposals requested from three (3) consulting firms. Two firms submitted proposals. It was determined that M-E's proposal and experience exceeded the other firm's. M-E was selected based on experience, availability, knowledge of project site, and past experience.

The contract compliance number for M-E Companies is 31-1442777, expiring 2/18/08.

Body

WHEREAS, proposals were received from two firms for professional services in conjunction with the Whetstone Recreation Center High Street Drop-Off; and

WHEREAS, M-E companies was selected based on prior experience, schedule, and knowledge of the facility; and

WHEREAS, the project is part of the Clintonville Community request of UIRF funds; and

WHEREAS, the project includes engineering services to provide a construction cost estimate, which will be given to the community; and

WHEREAS, The construction project would include: cutting the existing street curb on High Street, excavating soil, removing plant material (street trees to remain) installing new curbing, concrete walks and the half circle drop-off; and

WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Recreation and Parks Department in that it is immediately necessary to enter i...
