To Recognize the 2025 Cinema Columbus Film Festival and Honor Local Filmmakers

WHEREAS, the Cinema Columbus Film Festival is a valuable asset to the City of Columbus, partnering with central Ohio’s premier cinemas and exhibition venues to create the region’s grandest annual film event - a centerpiece of arts and culture in Columbus; and
WHEREAS, April 30, 2025 is the opening night of the Cinema Columbus Film Festival, commencing a five-day celebration of independent film and filmmakers at venues throughout Columbus and central Ohio; and
WHEREAS, the Cinema Columbus Film Festival is a unique annual event that strengthens the arts community, increases Columbus’s profile as a creative and culturally rich city, and supports local venues and independent creators; and
WHEREAS, the opening film of the 2025 Cinema Columbus Film Festival, Down to the Felt, is one of the biggest independent films created and shot in Columbus in the last decade, directed and written by Columbus residents, featuring cast and crew from central Ohio, and showcasing the beauty of our city throughout the film; and
WHEREAS, the City of Columbus is proud to support the 2025 Cinema Columbus Film Festival, thanks to all of the staff of the Festival, CAPA, and venues across the city for their work to host this incredible event, and encourages all residents to explore the diverse range of films in this year’s lineup; and
WHEREAS, the City of Columbus honors the filmmakers of Down to the Felt, including director and screenwriter Jon Osbeck and screenwriters Ralph Scott and Dino Tripodis, and all of the local filmmakers participating in the 2025 Cinema Columbus Film Festival; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council recognizes Cinema Columbus, celebrates the opening of the 2025 Cinema Columbus Film Festival, and honors local filmmakers.
