Explanation

The purpose of this ordinance is the authorize the City Clerk to enter a grant agreement with Our Helpers to provide upfront financial support for their Central Ohio Rapid Response Network. The mission of Our Helpers is to improve the lives of immigrant and refugee families in Central Ohio by connecting and providing resources in all aspects of human services. Their vision is a community where every immigrant family feels welcomed, supported, and able to thrive.

Our Helpers' Central Ohio Rapid Response Network provides trusted referrals and navigation of immigration processes. The Network exists to unify stakeholders across nonprofit, government, and faith-based sectors to provide comprehensive, timely, and compassionate services for children and vulnerable communities. Our Helpers accomplishes this through know-your-rights workshops, safety and protection strategies, volunteer mobilization, and amplification of authentic voices to counter harmful or false narratives. Grant funding authorized under this legislation will be used to defray operating expenses incurred by Our Helpers for the implementation of CORRN, including the cost of the program's full-time manager.
