Title: To authorize the Director of the Department of Development to modify the Home Safe and Sound Program contract with Columbus Housing Partnership by extending the termination date to December 31, 2009; and to declare an emergency.
Explanation

BACKGROUND: This legislation authorizes the Director of the Department of Development to modify contract DE057365 with the Columbus Housing Partnership by extending the contract termination date to December 31, 2009. The additional time will allow Columbus Housing Partnership to continue to support the operation of the Home Safe and Sound Program through the provision of Home Maintenance workshops. The Columbus Housing Partnership's City Contract Compliance number is 31-1208260.

The Home Safe and Sound Program provides financial assistance to low and moderate-income homeowners to rehabilitate their homes. The Columbus Housing Partnership provides applicants of the Home Safe and Sound Program with free "Exterior/Interior Home Maintenance/Repair Workshops". These workshops provide low and moderate-income homeowners with instruction in simple electrical, plumbing, and other home repairs, as well as, training in fire safety, energy efficiency and healthy homes.

An emergency is requested so the services can continue without interruption.

FISCAL IMPACT: No additional funds are needed for this modification.

WHEREAS, the Director of the Department of Development desires to modify Contract DE057365 with Columbus Housing Partnership by extending the contract to December 31, 2009; and

WHEREAS, this modification will allow the contractor to continue to support the operation of the Home Safe and Sound Program, and

WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Housing Division in that it is immediately necessary to approve this Ordinance so program services can continue without interruption, all for the immediate preservation of the public health, property, safety and welfar...
