Explanation
1. BACKGROUND
This ordinance authorizes the Director of Public Service to enter into an agreement with the Franklin County Engineer for the Bridgeway Avenue project. It is necessary for the City to enter into agreement for this project since a portion of the project is within the City of Columbus. This project is necessary for the improvements of Bridgeway Avenue and roadway improvements adjacent to the NetJets location at the Port Columbus Airport.
Proposed work includes relocation of Bridgeway Avenue from Goshen Lane to 1000 feet west.
Lengthen existing turn lanes at Bridgeway Avenue and Johnstown Road.
Roadway widening to accommodate additional turn lanes at Stelzer Road and Johnstown Road.
Franklin County has received a grant from the Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC) for this project in order to construct improvements to Bridgeway Avenue and requires assistance from the City in order to complete the construction.
2. FISCAL IMPACT
There is no financial participation by the City of Columbus for this project.
3. EMERGENCY DESIGNATION
Emergency action is requested for this legislation to authorize the Director of Public Service to enter into this agreement with the Franklin County Engineer at the earliest possible time to facilitate the construction of this project which is vital for the economic development of the area surrounding the NetJets facility.
