Explanation
BACKGROUND:

Need: This legislation is to authorize and direct the Finance Director to issue a purchase order for automotive lighting and alarm equipment from an existing Universal Term Contract established by the Purchasing Office for such purpose with D&M Distributors, Inc; included in this purchase will be push bumpers, light bars, sirens, strobes and speakers for emergency response vehicles.

Bid Information: A Universal Term Contract exists for these purchases.

Contract Compliance: 310926900

Emergency Designation: Emergency action is requested as funds are needed immediately to equip emergency vehicles with lighting and alarm equipment.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Budgeted Amount: Unencumbered cash is available within the Division's current 2002 Capital Improvement Budget for these purchases, Safety Voted Bond Fund, Apparatus Replacement Project for this purchase.

WHEREAS, there is a need to purchase lighting and alarm equipment for emergency response vehicles from unencumbered cash exiting in the Division of Fire's Safety Voted Bond Fund, Apparatus Replacement Project; and

WHEREAS, a Universal Term Contract established by the Purchasing Office exists for these purchases; and

WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Department of Public Safety, in that it is immediately necessary to purchase said automotive equipment, for the immediate preservation of the public health, peace, property, safety and welfare; now, therefore,
