Explanation
Background: This lease will make it possible to continue the partnership between the City of Worthington and the City of Columbus to continue the development of a dog park originally authorized by City Council in Ordinance 1649-2010, to meet public fitness and recreational needs, and will add to the quality of life for the people of Central Ohio. As with the original 2010 Agreement, the City of Worthington will continue to handle all day-to-day maintenance activities and all future capital expenditures, upon approval of City Council, will be shared equally. Worthington will receive credit for its property maintenance costs against the capital costs. This legislation will authorize the Director of Recreation and Parks to enter into a Lease Agreement with the City of Worthington for five (5) years from September 1, 2025 to August 31, 2030.

Community input/issues: The dog park has been widely accepted as part of the diverse assortment of facilities in the CRPD system.
