To Celebrate the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc and Columbus Chapter Gamma Alpha hosting the Quad City Founders Day

WHEREAS, the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc. (NSPDK), is a nonprofit, educational sorority founded on May 23, 1923, by eight African American women who desired to establish a sisterhood among teachers and to promote the highest ideals of the teaching profession; and

 

WHEREAS, NSPDK is composed of well-trained and effective educators in all components of the learning spectrum who are engaged in training youth and adults to develop and enhance the skills, abilities, and ethics that will prepare them to function successfully in our diverse society; and

 

WHEREAS, the Columbus Chapter of NSPDK, Gamma Alpha, works diligently with our youth, parents and various other organizations to fulfill their mission and provide scholarship opportunities; and

 

WHEREAS, on Saturday, May 23rd, 2026, Gamma Alpha will host Quad City Founders’ Day, the event will honor the eight founders and chart members of Tau, Sigma, Epsilon Xi, and Gamma Alpha Chapters, Gamma Alpha is at home here in Columbus, Ohio; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council celebrates the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc and Columbus Chapter Gamma Alpha hosting the Quad City Founders Day.
