Title: To authorize and direct the Director of Recreation and Parks to enter into contract with Greenlawn Farm, LLC, dba Greenlawn Landscape Contracting, for the Bunker Improvements 2014 Project; to authorize the expenditure of $99,200.00 and a contingency of $9,800.00 for a total of $109,000.00 from the Voted Recreation and Parks Bond Fund; and to declare an emergency. Explanation

Background:
This ordinance will pay for costs associated with the removal and stockpiling of existing bunker sand, replacement of drainage in existing bunkers, addition of new sand, and elimination of bunkers at Mentel Memorial Golf Course and Champions Golf Course. Drainage has been a problem in certain bunkers at these courses and this work will alleviate the drainage concerns. These improvements will make the courses easier to prepare for staff and more playable for customers after periods of rain.

Bids were received by the Recreation and Parks Department on April 1, 2014 for the Bunker Improvements 2014 Project as follows:

Benefits to Public:

Fiscal Impact:
$109,000.00 is required and budgeted in the Recreation and Parks Voted Bond Funds to meet the financial obligations of these expenditures.

Emergency Justification:
An emergency exists in the usual daily operations of the Recreation and Parks Department in that it is immediately necessary to enter into said contract so that work may proceed as quickly as possible to start during the current construction season and in order to minimize the impact on customers during the peak golfing season.
