To declare March 3, 2008 as the kickoff to The Children's Hunger Alliance's week long Lunch Money for a Day Campaign to fight childhood hunger.
 
Body
 
WHEREAS, Whereas the Children's Hunger Alliance is the statewide non-profit organization committed to ending childhood hunger in Ohio by expanding access to food, nutrition, education and quality child care; and
 
WHEREAS,  on any given day, there are over 500,000 children who are hungry or at risk of hunger in the state of Ohio; and
 
WHEREAS, hungry children have a harder time learning in school and have more health, social, and behavioral problems, consequences from hunger that can last a lifetime; and
 
WHEREAS, Funds from Lunch Money for a Day help nutrition and education resources to be readily available for children, parents and youth serving organizations; and
 
WHEREAS, the Lunch Money for a Day Campaign is a simple way for businesses and organizations to make a difference in their community by experiencing hunger for a few hours and by donating their lunch money to children who are in need; and
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
The City of Columbus recognizes March 3, 2008 as the kickoff to The Children's Hunger Alliance's week long Lunch Money for a Day Campaign to fight childhood hunger.
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
Columbus City Council encourages local governments, businesses and the community at large to participate in the Lunch Money for a Day Campaign to alleviate hunger for all of Ohio's children.
