Explanation
BACKGROUND: This ordinance amends the 2004 Capital Improvement Budget and authorizes the transfer of $1,479,100 from the Fire Station 35 (Waggoner Road) Project to the Fire Station 18 (Cleveland Avenue) Project for the construction of Fire Station 18. This ordinance also authorizes the Public Service Director to enter into contract for the Facilities Management Division with Gutknecht Construction Company, Inc., for the construction of Fire Station 18 at 1628 Cleveland Avenue. Formal bids were solicited on May 4, 2004 and three companies submitted bids on May 25, 2004 as follows (0 MBE, 0 FBE):
Gutknecht Construction Company, Inc. $4,289,100.00
Central Ohio Building Company, Inc. $4,333,600.00
Charter Hill Construction, Inc. $4,752,414.00
The Facilities Management Division recommends the bid award to the most responsive and responsible bidder, Gutknecht Construction Company, Inc.
EMERGENCY ACTION is requested so that the construction of the new fire station may begin as soon as possible.
FISCAL IMPACT: The original budgeted amount in the Safety Capital Budget for Fire Station 18 is $2,810,000.00. The additional $1,479,100.00 will be transferred from the Fire Station 35 Project. The total cost is $4,289,100.00. Contract compliance # 31-0935568, expiration date 10-25-04.
