Explanation
Title
To support Senate Bill 13 of the 126th Ohio General Assembly, and discourage policies that would contribute to the taxpayer assisted outsourcing of Ohio jobs.
Body
WHEREAS, Ohio State Senator Teresa Fedor introduced Senate Bill 13 in the 126th Ohio General Assembly, which would require that contracts with the state specify that labor or services are to be preformed within the United States; to require that any supplies to be provided for such contract will be provided from a location within the United States, and prohibiting awarding contracts with the state or giving financial assistance, including tax incentives, loans, loan guarantees, or grants, for five years to employers that have had a net loss of jobs due to the relocation of jobs from Ohio to locations outside the United States; and,
WHEREAS, hardworking Ohioans believe in fairness, a level playing field, opportunity for all, and broad prosperity; and,
WHEREAS, Council believes that Columbus, and Ohio, generally, has the hardest working, most productive, and most well-trained workforce in the world; and,
WHEREAS, Council actively works towards job creation and economic prosperity for all the citizens of Columbus; and,
WHEREAS, America is the greatest economic superpower in the world and will only remain such as long as high-wage, high-skilled jobs are maintained within the boarders of this great nation; and,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That this Council does hereby lend its support and encouragement to Senate Bill 13 of the 126th Ohio General Assembly, and encourages the General Assembly to pass legislation protecting the jobs and economic security of all Ohioans.
