Explanation
This ordinance accepts the collective bargaining agreement between the City of Columbus and the Communication Workers of America, Local 4502 covering the period of April 24, 2023 through April 23, 2026.
All Articles of this agreement and attachments thereto have been approved by the City and the Union. A signed agreement will be on file in the Department of Human Resources.
Emergency action is recommended because the collective bargaining agreement expired on April 23, 2023.
The fiscal impact is summarized in a memorandum to City Council, dated June 30, 2023.
Title
To accept the proposed collective bargaining agreement between the City of Columbus and the Communication Workers of America, Local 4502, April 24, 2023 through April 23, 2026, to provide wages, hours and other terms and conditions of employment for employees in the bargaining unit as provided in the attachment hereto; and to declare an emergency.
Body
WHEREAS, a collective bargaining agreement has been reached between the City of Columbus and the Communication Workers of America, Local 4502 covering the period of April 24, 2023 through April 23, 2026 which has been approved by the City and the Union; and
WHEREAS, a copy of the agreement has been submitted to the Council and a signed copy will be on file in the Department of Human Resources; and
WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Department of Human Resources in that it is immediately necessary to approve the collective bargaining agreement negotiated between the City of Columbus and the Communication Workers of America, Local 4502, April 24, 2023 through April 23, 2026, in order to effectuate the timely, negotiated clauses, thereby preserving the public peace, property, health, safety, and welfare; NOW, THEREFORE,
