Explanation

BACKGROUND: This legislation authorizes The Board of Health to
modify and increase a contract associated with purchase order DE066770,
with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office. The Franklin County
Sheriff's Office will conduct sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols. The
contract period is October 1, 2005 through September 30, 2006.
DE066770 was originally set up for $20,000. A second modification for
$18,000 was passed July 10. A final modification in the amount of $13,988
is necessary to meet the demands of the OVI Task Force Program, for a
total contract amount not to exceed $51,988.

Emergency action is required to ensure the continued operation of the OVI
Task Force Program.

FISCAL IMPACT: This contract is entirely funded by a grant from the
Ohio Department of Public Safety. The program does not generate revenue
or require a City match. The monies are budgeted in the 2006 Health
Department Grants Fund.
