To recognize and honor Zari Carmona-Tongor as a Madrina of Latino Heritage Month Columbus 2024

WHEREAS, from September 15 to October 15 each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month, a time to celebrate the achievements, histories, traditions and cultural diversity of Hispanic/Latino/Latinx Americans whose heritage is rooted in over 20 Latin American countries and territories; and

WHEREAS, the Latino Heritage Month Columbus Padrinos Initiative was started to honor individuals who have demonstrated ongoing dedication and commitment to the advancement and uplifting of the local Latino community; and

WHEREAS, Zari Carmona-Tongor is a proud Dominican-American entrepreneur who founded a local business, JPS Print, and is a shareholder in other local business ventures thereby uplifting and contributing to the local economy; and

WHEREAS, Zari Carmona-Tongor is a longstanding community organizer and advocate through organizations like Dominicans in Columbus, Ohio (DICO), collaborating with various immigrant groups to bring essential services to the community; and

WHEREAS, Zari Carmona-Tongor’s leadership, passion, and dedication have fostered unity, support, and growth within the local Latino community; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council does hereby recognize and honor Zari Carmona-Tongor as a Madrina of Latino Heritage Month Columbus 2024.
