To honor and recognize Mary Ann Rollins, Columbus Health Department's very own Shero.

WHEREAS, Mary Ann Rollins is a Registered Nurse who has dedicated her entire professional life to public health in Columbus and serving those with the greatest need; and
 
WHEREAS, with 45 years of service as a Registered Nurse at the Columbus Health Department, she is a role model for her colleagues and has served as a mentor for hundreds of doctors and nurses; and
 
WHEREAS, Mary Ann has demonstrated true leadership by developing a systematic approach to sharing her knowledge.  She has provided training and consultation to the staff of neighborhood health centers, prepared procedure manuals and worked collaboratively to provide prompt treatment to patients; and
 
WHEREAS, Mary Ann is a valued and trusted community health expert on sexually transmitted diseases and has been instrumental in removing barriers that have traditionally prevented many African Americans from seeking sexual health services; and
 
WHEREAS, Mary Ann has been a tremendous asset to the Columbus Health Department and perhaps her most important contribution has been to the thousands of patients that have benefited from her knowledge and care; now, therefore,
      
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
 
That this Council does hereby honor and recognize Mary Ann Rollins, Columbus Health Department's very own Shero on this 3rd day of May, 2004.
