To recognize and congratulate the Columbus College of Art and Design, founded in 1879, on its 125 years of educating professional artists and designers.

WHEREAS, the Columbus College of Art and Design, founded in 1879, is one of the largest and oldest private art colleges in the country, with more than 1,500 students from 40 state and 30 foreign countries; and
 
WHEREAS, CCAD is preparing tomorrow's creative leader for professional careers, as a private four-year, degree granting institution of higher learning; and
 
WHEREAS, CCAD has also offered art instruction to area children and youth since 1880 with its Saturday Morning Art Classes; and
 
WHEREAS, CCAD's commitment to the fundamentals and quality of art has advanced a distinct and inclusive learning culture that supports individual development in art, design and the humanities; and
 
WHEREAS, for 125 years CCAD has truly been a source of pride for the City of Columbus and has brought the residents of this city unique and impressive creativity, through artwork by students, alumni, and faculty, in galleries throughout downtown; now, therefore,
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
 
That this Council does hereby recognize and congratulate the students, alumni, faculty, and supports of the Columbus College of Art and Design on the school's 125th anniversary, and its continued success as a Columbus institution.
