Explanation
1. BACKGROUND
This legislation authorizes the Director of Public Service to enter into contract in an amount up to $220,586.18 for the Pedestrian Safety Improvements - Obetz Road Sidewalk Project and to pay construction inspection costs up to $55,146.55.
This project will construct 2,662 linear feet of sidewalk on Obetz Road between South High St. and Beth Ann Drive, including miscellaneous drainage improvements, pavement replacement at the intersection of Obetz Road and South High Street, and curb ramp improvements and driveway replacements. Concrete sidewalk with a width of 5 feet along both sides of the road and a total of 3 wheelchair ramps will be built. There are 7 bus stops and transit routes within the limits of this project.
Pedestrian generators and destinations impacting the proposed project include Children's Academy, CHN Housing on Southpointe Blvd, a church and senior housing facility.
The estimated Notice to Proceed date is estimated to be May 2, 2011. The estimated completion date is July 26, 2011. The project was let by the Office of Support Services through vendor services. 6 bids were received on March 17, 2011 (6 majority, 0 minority) and tabulated on March 18, 2011 as follows:
