To recognize and commend Mrs. Melissa Thompkins for her leadership and service in advancing community justice and empowerment in the Milo-Grogan neighborhood.

 

 

Body

 

WHEREAS, Mrs. Melissa Thompkins has devoted her time, energy, and leadership to uplifting the Milo-Grogan neighborhood and strengthening relationships between residents, local government, and the courts; and


WHEREAS, she has been a key partner in organizing and promoting expungement clinics in collaboration with the Franklin County Municipal Court’s Self Help Center, ensuring that record-sealing and legal resources are accessible within the community; and


WHEREAS, through her coordination and outreach, thousands of individuals have received the assistance needed to overcome past criminal records and gain improved access to employment, housing, and educational opportunities; and


WHEREAS, Mrs. Thompkins’ partnership has helped expand these clinics to additional neighborhoods, serving as a model for community-driven justice initiatives across Columbus; and


WHEREAS, her continued commitment to service, empowerment, and collaboration reflects the City’s values of equity, inclusion, and opportunity for all residents; now, therefore,


BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That this Council does hereby recognize and commend Mrs. Melissa Thompkins for her outstanding leadership, compassion, and partnership in advancing community-based justice initiatives and empowering residents to move forward with dignity and opportunity.

 

Mrs. Thompkins’ dedication to the Milo-Grogan community has strengthened trust between residents and public institutions, expanded access to vital court resources, and inspired others to continue the pursuit of equity and justice throughout Columbus. Her service stands as a lasting example of servant leadership, collaboration, and community pride.
