Explanation
Title
To recognize and congratulate The Ohio State University Women's Basketball Team on a season of success, with a record number of wins and title of Big Ten Co-Champions.
Body
WHEREAS, during the 2004-2005 NCAA Basketball Season, The Ohio State University Women's Basketball Team set a program record for number of wins in a season, with 30 wins, and earned the title of Big Ten Co-Champions; and
WHEREAS, the OSU Women's Basketball Team made its first appearance since 1993in the NCAA Tournament's "Sweet 16" round; and
WHEREAS, Sophomore Jessica Davenport was named 2005 Big 10 Player of the Year; and
WHEREAS, Senior Caity Matter ended her career at OSU as a three time all-conference honoree, career leader in 3-point field goals, 3-point attempts, and 3-point percentage, and the all-time leader for Ohio State in free throw percentage. She ended her career with 1,523 points, which stands in 10th place all-time at Ohio State; and
WHEREAS, Sophomore Brandy Hoskins was named third-team all-league and to the 2005 All-Big Ten Tournament team; and
WHEREAS, the team was successful because of the hard work and dedication of all its players: Ashley Allen, Tia Battle, Stephanie Blanton, Candace Dark, Jessica Davenport, Brandie Hoskins, Beth Howe, Alice Jamen, Caity Matter, Debbie Merrill, Michelle Munoz, Marscilla Packer, Tamarah Riley, and Kim Wilburn; its Assistant Coaches: Pete Gaudet, Kelley Meury, and Tamika Williams; and its Head Coach Jim Foster; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That this Council does hereby recognize and congratulate the successful players and coaches of the Big Ten Co-Champions for 2004-2005, The Ohio State University Women's Basketball Team.
