To honor, recognize, and celebrate the life of Ms. Jane Lee McFarland LaCour, and to extend our sincerest condolences to her family and friends on the occasion of her passing Thursday, February 17, 2011.
 
Body
 
WHEREAS, Jane was born in Winston Salem, NC, on November 10, 1927, the daughter of step-father Elias and mother Edell O'Neil; and
 
WHEREAS, she was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Louis Bernard LaCour, and half-sister Hermeta Jackson; and
 
WHEREAS, Jane was deeply involved in the Columbus community, offering her time and talents to numerous institutions and organizations; and
 
WHEREAS, she was a member of The Sophisticates, Inc.; a founding member of the Kardames Bridge Club; an Archousa of Lambda Boule of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity; a past board member of  the YWCA and CAPA; an assisting board member of Children's Hospital and COSI; a life member of the Assisting Board of Grant Hospital; and a contributor to the formation of the Columbus Metropolitan Club; and
 
WHEREAS, Jane is survived by a large and loving family, including her daughters, Lynne LaCour, Avril LaCour-Hartnagel, and Cheryl Celeste LaCour-Belyn; her sister, Margaree (Henderson) Grigley; grandchildren, Lauren LaCour Hartnagel, Leigh LaCour Belyn, and Louis LaCour Belyn; and innumerable friends, colleagues, and admirers; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
 
That we hereby honor, recognize, and celebrate the life of Ms. Jane Lee McFarland LaCour, and extend our sincerest condolences to her family and friends on the occasion of her passing Thursday, February 17, 2011.
