1. BACKGROUND
The Department of Public Service, Keep Columbus Beautiful (KCB) program, as an affiliate member in good standing, is accepting a national donation/grant/ sponsored by Keep America Beautiful, Incorporated (KAB), and the 2011 Lowe's Great American Cleanup program. The donation/grant, which is called the 2011 Lowes Great American Cleanup, is designed to encourage local solutions that showcase environmental stewardship and show evidence of sustainability of the Keep Columbus Beautiful mission. A donation/grant of $248.20 was awarded to Keep America Beautiful affiliates throughout the Rumpke service region in Ohio.
Keep Columbus Beautiful is requesting acceptance of a grant award for $248.50 to be used for the overall mission of community improvement for the City of Columbus and its neighborhoods. This legislation authorizes the Director of Public Service to formally accept donation/grant award and to authorize the appropriation and expenditure of these funds within the Private Grant Fund.
2. FISCAL IMPACT
None. No city match is required for this donation/grant. KCB resources that will be dedicated to managing/implementing this donation/grant are included in the program's 2011 operating budget within the General Fund.
3. EMERGENCY DESIGNATION
Emergency Action is requested to allow the financial transaction to be posted in the City accounting system as soon as possible to allow the purchase of printing, equipment and supplies in Spring of 2011. Up to date financial posting promotes accurate accounting and financial management.
