Honoring The Cheer Institute for a Decade of Excellence in Youth Athletics and Celebrating Their 2025 World Championship Victory

 

 

Body

 

WHEREAS, The Cheer Institute is a competitive cheerleading and tumbling facility that has been an inclusive and empowering space for youth athletes in the Central Ohio Region for the past ten years; and

 

WHEREAS, The Cheer Institute is led by Erika Gullick, an Ohio State University Cheerleading alumna, who has used her experience to encourage excellence and discipline in athletes ranging from three years old to young adult; and

 

WHEREAS, at The Allstar Wold Championships in April 2025, the gym’s Junior team, Blaze, brought home a silver medal, surpassing 90 top-tier teams from around the world; and

 

WHEREAS, The gym’s Youth Level 1 team, Apollo, made gym history by winning the Gold Medal and title of World Champions, triumphing over more than 110 teams - an accomplishment that makes The Cheer Institute only the second cheerleading gym in Ohio to win this prestigious title; and

 

WHEREAS, The athletes of Team Apollo - Dakota Gullick, Kennedy Penn, Peyton Nixson, Kamryn Norwood, Aja Brewley, Paris Smoot, Dai'Mya Bynes, Mya Payne, and Jamiyah Benvenutti - demonstrated exceptional talent, dedication, and sportsmanship, bringing immense pride to the Columbus community; and

 

WHEREAS, The Cheer Institute is deeply committed to community engagement, hosting annual "Cheer Up Columbus" events to support local families and give back to the broader Columbus community throughout the year; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council does hereby recognize and celebrate The Cheer Institute for their remarkable achievements and empowerment of youth athletes of all backgrounds in Central Ohio.
