To recognize the Columbus Department of Public Utilities' Top Ops Team for winning the Ohio Top Ops Competition.
Body
WHEREAS, the Columbus Department of Public Utilities Top Ops Team proudly represented the City of Columbus and their department at the Ohio Section of the American Water Works Association (AWWA) Contest in Cincinnati in September 2007; and
WHEREAS, the AWWA Top Ops competition is the "college bowl" of the water industry, a fast-paced question-and-answer tournament that tests the professional knowledge of teams from cities across Ohio and the nation; and
WHEREAS, Columbus Top Ops Team members Kevin Gleich, Ron Lambert and Chuck Norris exemplify the finest in skill and teamwork displayed each day by City of Columbus employees; and
WHEREAS, Kevin, Ron and Chuck have extensively studied water treatment processes and related issues, and bring decades of combined experience to work everyday for the benefit of their colleagues and Columbus and central Ohio water customers; and
WHEREAS, the Columbus Top Ops Team won the statewide Top Ops competition for a fourth consecutive year, defeating the City of Cincinnati's Top Ops team 50 to 7 in Cincinnati September 19, 2007, marking the Columbus Team's fifth state championship in the last 10 years; and
WHEREAS, the Columbus Top Ops Team's 2007 victory in Cincinnati qualifies them for the Top Ops AWWA National Competition in June 2008 in Atlanta, Georgia, where they will seek the title of best Top Ops Team in the nation to add to their national third place honors in 2006 and 2005; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That the Columbus City Council recognizes the Columbus Department of Public Utilities' Top Ops Team for its well-deserved fourth consecutive first place finish at the Ohio Section AWWA competition in 2007, and wishes Kevin, Ron and Chuck good luck as they proudly represent the City of Columbus and Department of Public Utili...
