Explanation
Background: This ordinance will authorize the Public Service Department, Facilities Management Division, to make various expenditures for labor, materials, and equipment in conjunction with facilities improvements. This money will be used for work that is anticipated but not planned. Work may include any type of renovation of City-owned facilities, such as electrical, HVAC, and plumbing. All work will be based on three estimates obtained from qualified contractors. Funding for these expenditures is from the Facilities Management Capital Improvement Fund.
Emergency action is requested to allow these projects to proceed in a timely manner and to allow the financial transaction to be posted in the City's accounting system as soon as possible. Up-to-date financial posting promotes accurate accounting and financial management. Emergency action is also requested to allow the necessary funding to be available for needed expenditures.
Fiscal Impact: $100,000.00 is required and available in the Facilities Management Capital Improvement Fund to meet the financial obligations of these various expenditures. This amount is available through cost savings in other projects. Ordinance 0346-2004, passed March 2, 2004, authorized the expenditure of $50,000 for the same purpose. Ordinance 1463-2004, passed September 20, 2004, authorized an additional expenditure of $100,000.00.
