To honor and recognize the contributions of the Council of American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) Ohio as they celebrate their Eighth Annual Dinner on this 17^th day of June, 2007.

Body

WHEREAS, CAIR-Ohio was established in 1998 in an effort to promote greater understanding of Islam, empower the 150,000 American Muslims living in Ohio, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding; and

WHEREAS, CAIR-Ohio is committed to educating the public and public officials on important Muslim values such as emphasizing strong families, improving neighborhoods and protecting the civil liberties of all residents so that there may be greater harmony and a better America; and

WHEREAS, CAIR-Ohio has worked with public officials to find common ground on public policy issues and as a result has built strong positive relationships with policymakers who often seek CAIR-Ohio out to gain insight on issues affecting the Muslim community; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:

That we do hereby recognize and honor the contributions of the Council of American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) Ohio as they celebrate their Eighth Annual Dinner on this 17^th day of June, 2007.
