Explanation
1. BACKGROUND
This ordinance authorizes the Director of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion to enter into a grant agreement with Women for Economic and Leadership Development (WELD) in support of its women’s leadership programs and trainings;
Women for Economic and Leadership Development (WELD) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that builds programs, events, and community to support leadership development of women and drive business growth. The organization develops and advances women’s leadership to strengthen the economic prosperity of the community it serves.
2. FISCAL IMPACT
The funding of $10,000.00 is available in the General Fund for the Office of Diversity and Inclusion.

WHEREAS, the mission of the Women for Economic and Leadership Development (WELD) is to develop and advance women’s leadership to strengthen the economic prosperity of the community it serves.
WHEREAS, WELD is the national model for implementing strategies to advance women to higher levels of leadership and economic strength, deploying resources to accelerate educational programming and events.
WHEREAS, it is necessary to authorize an expenditure of $10,000.00 in the general fund;
WHEREAS, it has become necessary in the usual daily operation of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion to enter into a grant agreement with the Women for Economic and Leadership Development for its women’s leadership programs and events in the amount of $10,000.00, for the promotion of pathways for women to reach economic prosperity and build strong community connections; NOW, THEREFORE,
