Explanation

Background:
This legislation authorizes the continuation of a personal service contract with Choices to provide a counselor to assist in the Witness Assistance Program in the City Attorney's Office.

The City Attorney has been contracting with Choices since 1986 and desires to continue the present relationship. Accordingly, a waiver of Columbus City Code ยง329.11 is sought.

Fiscal Impact:
Monies are available in the 2003 budget. This is a budgeted request.

Body

WHEREAS, City Counsel has made funding available which will permit the City Attorney's Witness Assistance Program to contract with Choices for assistance in counseling services; and

WHEREAS, the City Attorney has been contracting with Choices since 1986 and desires to continue the present relationship. Accordingly a waiver of Columbus City Code 329.11 is sought.

WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the City Attorney's Office, Prosecutor Division, in that it is immediately necessary to enter into this contract, thereby preserving the public health, peace, property, safety and welfare; now, therefore,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS, OHIO:

SECTION 1. That the City Attorney be and hereby is authorized to enter into a contact with Choices for counseling and other professional services to be rendered in connection with the Witness Assistance Program in the City Attorney's Office.
